July 4th
THE NEW CITY JAZZMEN
Celebrating their Golden Anniversary year of great traditional jazz, the youthful and ever popular band return to give us another great evening. The band has been delighting jazz aficionados for the last 50+ years, and have the reputation as one of the finest traditional bands in Sussex. The are led by raconteur and bon viveur Bernard Hodgson on trumpet, with Ron Westcott on trombone, Chris Jaques clarinet, Mike Godfrey piano, Sluff Hazell banjo, Alan Kennington bass, Barry Lewis drums and Penny Payne on vocals.
August 1st
THE MODERN JAZZ TRIO
Led by John Horler piano, (who has played several times at the club) with Sam Burgess bass, and Mike Smith drums. John is a much respected composer, arranger and pianist, having worked very closely with John Dankworth and Cleo Laine since 1984 as their pianist. He has been continuously active with such leaders as Pete King, Tommy Whittle and Tony Coe. His current trio have recently recorded the highly acclaimed CD, "The Key To it All" which features some original compositions by John and some fine standards. My copy has rarely been out of the player, and tonight they plan to play excerpts from their recent CD – which was performed and recorded live at The Watermill Jazz Club.
September 5th
SID BAILEY’S TAILGATE SIX
This exciting New Orleans Band makes a most welcome return to the club, ably led by hot trombonist and musical director Sid Bailey with Bob Jenkins clarinet, Tony Ashwell trumpet, John Boyatt string bass, Stu Morrison banjo, and with Barry Lewis on the drums. A lively and always popular band, with a great sense of authenticity and feeling for the original standards. Sid has just returned from a successful tour of New Orleans.

Tonight September 5th , is our membership renewal night and we open the doors early at 7.30 pm to share a glass of wine and sign up for another year of exciting music. Membership can now be a single, at £5 or double at £10 Future entrance fees will be £5 for members and £10 non-members.
October 3rd
THE PAUL BOOTH QUARTET
Featuring Paul Booth on tenor saxopohone, Mike Gorman piano, Phil Donkin bass and Dave Smith drums. Paul’s quartet is regularly seen at Ronnie Scott's, and Paul is one of the most exciting and in demand players on the music scene. He has many awards to his credit, including "Young Jazz Player of the Year" Paul has recorded two exciting new CDs and has recently played with Steve Winwood, Jane Monheit and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Mike Garrick Big Band and The New Jazz Couriers. His quartet is formed of some of the finest and respected musicians on the UK Jazz Scene.
November 7th
THE PHIL BROWN SWINGTET
Has escaped from their residency at the Cricketers, Horsell, Woking to bring their fantastic swing band standards to us. They play at many of the Jazz Festivals including the prestigious Bude Festival, where they are in great demand. Phil Brown is the leader on trombone, with Lester Brown trumpet, Mark Aston reeds, Andrew Clancy piano, Ken Ames guitar and vocals, with Mike Bennett double bass and David Clancy drums. Local pianist Pete Godfrey has played with the band on several occasions, and may make a guest appearance!
December 5th
ALYSON GREEN
Local singer, ALYSON GREEN makes her debut appearance at the club. Tonight she is accompanied by pianist Joss Peach, with Nigel Thomas bass, Alex Eberhard drums, and the legendary Jim Mullen on guitar. Alyson has recently been singing to great acclaim at The Pizza Express, Soho and at The Joogleberry in Brighton. Alyson was the singer with The Herb (brother of George) Miller Big Band and is performing at this year’s Brighton Festival. Alyson has a delicate and subtle style of singing which works perfectly with the song book standards.
